A good Friday evening feel to this house. Recently voted Joint runner-up in Derby CAMRA City Pub of 2012 competition. Excels with CAMRA card discount and Castle Rock 1 over the 8 card promotion.

Castle Rock - Elsie Mo4.70GoodAlways my favourite Castle Rock quaff. If only Castle Rock brewed a good sharp hoppy mid brown beer.

Good few in following the Derby beer festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Rock - Malt Loaf4.50GoodDark brown beer with a strong malty flavour, little hoppiness and a fruity finish. Rather like a strong mild. My score 15/20.
Castle Rock - Boatman5.00PoorA cloudy Bavarian style wheat beer that is not really to my taste. Bitter, spicy flavours dominate with a very dry finish. My score 11/20.
21 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
A select band of drinkers in here on a Saturday afternoon, and a good range of beer showing that the pub is emerging well from a period in the doldrums.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burton Bridge - Moorish Mild3.90GoodRuby/brown mild with some malt and a little hop in the finish. My score 15/20.
25 Feb 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
A good atmosphere in here after a period of uncertainty. A few people in from the nearby Winter Ales festival.

Last visited in 2007. Some sort of changover is occurring here, hence only two customers in and two ales on from Castle Rock? Things will get back to normal, so the chap behind the bar told me, in a couple of weeks time. Watch Pubsandbeer for further updates!
