Busy with diners and drinkers on a Sunday lunchtime. All the beers were brewed using green hops. I lost my notes, so am a bit hazy regarding names and ABVs.
Swan on the Green - Sovereign Gold | 4.00 | | A light brown "golden"!Clean, hoppy , refreshing |
Swan on the Green - Last Challenger | 4.60 | | Darkish, fruity beer. Quite heavy |
Swan on the Green - Goldings Mild | 3.60 | | A dark, roasty mild:drinkable but not epic.Lacks the chocolate unctuosness that I look for in a mild. |
Swan on the Green - First Challenger | 3.60 | Not Tried

Lots of people eating on a warm night. 5 beers available.
Swan on the Green - Cygnet | 4.20 | | Malty and just right for a lady. |
Swan on the Green - Bewick | 5.30 | | Lots of flavour, a little sour tasting but in good condition. A little strong for a lady. |
Swan on the Green - Ginger | 3.60 | | Others in our group gave this a low score and left the beer. Cloudy and past its best. |

Decided to go head out to the sticks for some upmarket scran with the good lady (with her driving, natch). A comfortable number of diners and drinkers. Food was excellent as expected. I love this place, its location and the beer from the on-site microbrewery. Second-guessing which of the ales will be in super and not-so-super nick is all part of the fun. All are very nice when at their best though.
Swan on the Green - Fuggles Pale Ale | 3.60 | | Dark amber, sulphurous nose, great depth of flavour for a relatively low ABV. Delicious tangy fuggles hops. Pretty excellent all round. |
Swan on the Green - Trumpeter | 4.00 | | Malty brown best with sweet flavours and pleasant counterweight hops. |
Swan on the Green - Cygnet | 4.20 | | Light brown hoppy spring ale, tasty but a little flat on this occasion. |
Swan on the Green - Bewick | 5.30 | | Darker strong ale with the slightest of haze. Some of the trademark toffee/chocomalts pushing through but a tad sour and less than its optimum best. |

The second stop in the Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay CAMRA branch's Mystery Bus Tour. I've not been here before but always wanted to go. There were a handful of locals in. Before going to the toilets make sure you know whether you're a Cob or a Hen.
Swan on the Green - Fuggles Pale Ale | 3.60 | | Light, slightly orangy and with a nice fuggles hop finish |
Swan on the Green - Trumpeter | 4.00 | Not Tried

Came here with Phil L. Had a lovely meal (I had lamb shank, he had calves liver and bacon). Fairly busy for a Thursday night with plenty of people eating. Good atmosphere and service.
Swan on the Green - Select Fuggles | 3.50 | | I had two pints of this quaffing session beer. Excellent condition and enough fragrant and bitter fuggles hops to keep you trying it. |
Swan on the Green - Ginger | 3.60 | Not Tried
Swan on the Green - Bewick | 5.30 | Not Tried

Second one in on a Friday lunchtime. Friendly staff and a choice of 5 of the Swan's handpull bitters. Really like the location and atmosphere of this pub. Cycled here from West Malling station which takes just under 30 minutes.
Swan on the Green - Cygnet | 4.20 | | Copper colour, beige head. Nice US style hop aroma with red berries. Fullish in mouth with some sweetish malts that lead to nice US hop finish with strawberry herby and nice lemon tones |
Swan on the Green - Select Fuggles | 3.50 | | Straw gold colour, lasting thin white head, nice hop nose. Palate is citric acidic with earty hops and grapefruit. Finish is citric tangy, good acids. Could drink this all night. Good light session beer with really good hoppy citric lasting finish |
Swan on the Green - Trumpeter | 4.00 | | Top of the barrel. Old gold colour with lasting beige head. Nice caramel malt and hop balnaced aromas. Richish malt fruit and more caramel in mouth with good hop/malt finish. Good balanced best bitter |
Swan on the Green - Bewick | 5.30 | | Mid brown with a disappearing beige head. Toffee malt and hop aromas, ok in th emouth with sweetish toffee and nice dry earthy hop finish |
Swan on the Green - Ginger | 3.60 | | Dirty gold/green colour with lasting thickish white head. Nose of ginger, soapy and earty hops. Muddy taste in mouth and then moore ginger on teh end. Had it before and I like it, but this wasn't that good |
Swan on the Green - Blonde | 4.00 | Not Tried
