Pretty empty except a drunk bloke at the bar trying to work out which local would fare best in a fight. I watched the Eng vs West Indies cricket on the TV and kept my head down.

Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50GoodPhil Lowry thinks this may have changed slightly. Less sickly mlat and more hoppy maybe on this evidence. Still good.

It was only 12.15pm on a Sunday and already the bar had 7 or so people seated around it and a few more at tables. I recognised a regular from the Phenoix there too. There were free copies of the local paper on the tables so I sat and read one of those. Good pub.

Sunday lunchtime and there were a fair few locals sat at the bar. Music was on quietly and Sky Sports was showing some football. Good local boozer atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter3.80GoodDeep clear chestnut colour. Landlord pulled through a couple of pints to clear the lines from overnight. Fruity malt aroma. Mix of red/dark fruits, good conditioning in mouth, prickly carbonation and earthy hop finish. Some tannin. Full in mouth. Excellent malt/hop balance.

The pub is found in Canterbury, Kent, CT1 3RY.

This is a traditional one room pub on Wincheap heading south out of the city. Central bar serves 2 areas. One has darts, bar billiards, Sky Sports on wall mounted flat screen TV and a fireplace, whilst on the other side of the bar are more tables and chairs. Hops decorate the wooden beams and bar. Four handpumps. Pumpclips behind the bar and on the wall are testament to the beers they've had on in the past but the range is far more limited of late. Bat and Trap and Darts leagues also feature.

We have visited this pub 33 times, seen 45 different beers and tried 29 of them.
