28 Dec 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Busy but our advance party had gained a table and seats and so I joined them early evening in this truly bustling and superbly restored Victorian folly of a pub in Bromley High Street. It affords an expansive real ale selection of 6 I noted. More staff needed as just one serving when I got here and so a bit of a wait but allowed me to note all the beers to choose from.
Kirkstall - Kirkstall Pale Ale | 4.00 | | A very hoppy first hit on this pale ale from Leeds. A moreishly dry mouthfeel lingering. |
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Burton Ale on the Union (collaboration with The Kernel) | 5.50 | | Fresh on shortly after arriving. Very good head and lacing on this Bakewell brew in Derbyshire. Met with a malty first hit followed by a sweetness and then a moreishly dry mouthfeel which lingered. |
Cloudwater - Strata - Pale Ale | 4.40 | | Unfined. Good head and lacing on this Manchester-based brew. A fruity first hit. A hint of sweetness but not overly with a dryish mouthfeel and lingering. |
Siren Craft - Mucha Mora Mocha Imperial Stout | 9.00 | Not Tried | One in our party downed a pint of this leading to their very heavy eyelids. |
Anspach & Hobday - A Christmas Pale | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
Cloudwater - Happy Christmas | 3.40 | Not Tried | A candied orange pale ale. |
