Visits Details

24 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. One of the owners' Mums was keeping an eye on proceedings from the customer side. More keg all taps added to make up to 18 now, from 11 before.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kent - Green Giant6.00GoodProbably the very last one of this season's batch for sale anywhere
Cloudwater - A-W18 India Porter5.30PoorInitial taste seemed OK but pretty sure I was getting sediment taste as the glass went down, cask was heavily tilted
Kent - KGB or Kent Golding Bitter4.10Not Tried
BritHop (originally cuckoo or contract brewed at Franklins) - Shakermaker4.40Not TriedCuckooed at Franklin's Brewery. I have heard this brewery described as being from Erith, Bexley and now Eltham. Pity the clip does not show any honest provenance
19 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. Quiet, demure and relaxed here on a Monday. Guv wearing a multi-twist long scarf to keep warm!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cloudwater - A-W18 India Porter5.30ExcellentLovely nick
Cloudwater - A-W18 Brown Ale4.60GoodClips says 4.6%, Guv read 5.2% on cask end label, 5.2% reported by another correspondent on here. Cloudwater asked to adjudicate. Cloudwater has subsequently confirmed the clip is correct at 4.6%, apparently cask end labels were wrongly printed off
Magic Rock - Ringmaster3.90Not Tried
New Bristol - Maple Syrup Stout7.00Not TriedStill going strong!
16 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. There had been a cask tap takeover by Cloudwater yesterday, signalling its return to being a cask brewer.

12 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. Good conversation with a former BR Telecomms engineer about how passenger information systems used to operate.
BeerABVScoreNotes
New Bristol - Maple Syrup Stout7.00ExcellentA few days old but still as good as last week
Wylam - Galatia3.90Not Tried

10 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. A raucous but well behaved large stag party was hitting the stronger beers and spirits to well line the cash till.
BeerABVScoreNotes
New Bristol - Maple Syrup Stout7.00ExcellentOn another beer site someone described this as "Bleddy eck this is thick and good." From its after-effects I just wonder if 7% was an underestimate of its abv!
Gun - Red Ale4.40Not Tried
Siren Craft - Vienna Pale Ale4.00Not Tried
05 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. The glacé cherries on some Bakewell Tarts given to bar staff were summarily removed and rejected as was much of the icing too, not leaving a lot left for them to munch!
