Visits Details 27 Nov 2011 (Alenomore)
1830 visit and some good ales on today.
Titanic - Eight Bells 4.50 A Xmas seasonal ale and not bad. Palm - Biere De Noel 5.00 Not sure which UK brewer put this in cask for JD's as it's usually tanked over and casked somewhere here. Not a patch on a true Belgian beer. Condition is just too "British"? Exmoor - Gold 4.50 Not Tried Skinner's - Betty Stogs Bitter 4.00 Not Tried "Coming soon" Holden's - Golden Glow 4.40 Not Tried Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Bombardier (was Bombardier Glorious English) (use Eagle entry now please) 4.10 Not Tried Rooster's - Cheers 4.70 Not Tried Would have been a new one for me, alas, "coming soon"...

1730 and first visit this week. Some interesting festival ales on too. 1/3rds are good news?
Cotleigh - Commando Hoofing IPA 4.20 Very, very good this new one. Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Naked Gold 4.10 New. And pretty good. Butcombe - Adam Henson's Rare Breed (superseded by 3.8% version - see separate entry) 4.20 Another new ale, and quite good. Belhaven - St. Andrews Amber Ale 4.90 Not good at all. Asked for a second sample and hardly better. Beartown (latterly part of Manning Brewers) - Wojtek (superseded by 5.5% version) 5.80 Not Tried Alas, went before my eyes...

A first visit here since the current festival kicked off. 3 ales (thirds) sampled for £2.45. In fair condition too.
Caledonian - Cossack Imperial Russian Stout 6.00 Excellent. Thwaites - Daniel's Hammer 5.00 An old ale but very pleasant. Wadworth - Octoberzest 4.00 A half decent fruity, citrus type.
14 Oct 2011 (oz11)
Afternoon, but were asked to move from our table at 6pm to clear the floor for the dance area?! Beers were served too cold for my liking.
Thwaites - Daniel's Hammer 5.00 Best of a fairly sorry bunch of beers, what is it with serving ales at lager-type temperatures? Caledonian - Cossack Imperial Russian Stout 6.00 Wadworth - Octoberzest 4.00 Nothing special, the festival program made it sound better than it was. Woodforde's - Kett's Rebellion 4.30 Might have been good but far too cold to tell. Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Ginger Beard 4.50 A little bit of ginger, might have been better if it had been served warmer. Vale - Long Dark Nights 4.30 Didn't like this, glad I only ordered a half. Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Whakatu 3.70 Not Tried Moorhouse's - Pendle Porter 5.00 Not Tried
