17 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
| Three Tuns - Mild | 3.40 | | Almost black in colour with a good aroma of toffee. The taste is initially sweet, becoming more like burnt toffee. Low hop rate makes this a classic mild. My score 17/20. |
10 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
London breweries beer festival in progress.
| Redemption - Black Trinity | 3.00 | | The addition of black malts to the pale version has completely changed the character of the beer into a much deeper flavoured, bitter and hoppy dark bitter. The citrus hop flavours are still there but the malt brings out more bitterenss. At just 3.0% this has to have the most flavour per ABV that I have ever sampled. My score 16/20. |
| Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Irish Oyster Stout | 4.80 | | A dry and roasty stout with a smooth and full bodied character. The fimnish is dry and malty. My score 16/20. |
14 Apr 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy with a visit from the Thursday evening mild drinkers.
| Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | | Good as ever with a full flavoured dark chocolate malt taste and low hoppiness. My score 16/20. |
| Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - London Porter | 5.00 | | Full bodied malty porter with a hoppy bitter finish. My score 16/20. |
| Adnams - Mild | 3.20 | | This sample had been cellared for five weeks. A full bodied richness of flavour had developed, giving a good depth of flavour for a 3.2% beer. Sweetish maltiness and a fruity edge in the finish. My score 17/20. |
