18:45 onwards. Having seen the advert for a Burns Night with a difference on our previous visit we thought we would give it a go. A good decision on our part. A meet the brewer evening with Scottish themed nibbles to accompany each beer. Will Wood from Lacons gave a talk about each beer as we sampled it plus told us the story of his life in brewing and some information about Lacons. Both beer and food were excellent with special mention on the food front going to the Haggis Scotch Egg.

12:55 First visit since the change of ownership to a consortium, part of which is Lacons Brewery. The pub is now in effect a Lacons tied house. The first since Whitbread closed the brewery in 1965. Smartened up interior but the floorplan remains the same. More emphasis on food than before. Not too busy, a few in the restaurant and four in the bar.
