30 Mar 2022 (Magnus Greel)
I met up with a group of friends and found it unexpectedly busy for a late Wednesday afternoon with a few other groups dotted about. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere could have stayed longer if there was more choice of cask ales available.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Twin Peaks | 5.00 | | Fruity hoppy and flavoursome prompted another pint before moving on. |
10 Mar 2022 (Jack William)
Swift half while waiting for the bus, mid afternoon, 1 other customer. Prices have changed considerably since Chris E’s visit. One cask at £4 a pint. 17 kegs between 4.5 and 5.5 a pint. Pleasant enough space.
I tried the Tonbridge “Easy Street” at 3.9% that was good. Brit Hop “Thirst for Knowledge” (4.3%) was the only cask on.
BritHop (originally cuckoo or contract brewed at Franklins) - Thirst for Knowledge | 4.30 | Not Tried
11 Dec 2018 (Magnus Greel)
Second venue for our group - mid evening and quiet, we took over the lengthways table array.
Iron Pier - Wealdway IPA | 4.50 | | Brewed using Columbus and Chinook hops, resulting in a piney, citrus and floral aroma. |
09 Nov 2018 (ChrisE)
A first visit for me. A good selection of craft. keg, key keg or whatever and one cask ale. All the beers seemed to be competitively priced, the cask ale was good value at £3 per pint.
Northdown - Papworth Victory Best Bitter | 4.20
22 Aug 2018 (Magnus Greel)
Late afternoon, busy with a group of jolly gents gathered at the far end of the long bar which happened to be where a single handpump was hiding the pub's only cask ale in a sea of keg offerings. Despite this we enjoyed the atmosphere here and the bespoke pizza's looked most enticing.
Saltaire - South Island Pale | 3.50 | | Superb condition very flavoursome the NZ hops striking a good balance with the gravity of this beer. £3 a pint for the thrifty minded too. |
