Quite busy with lunchtime clients in the restaurant area with a few outside. We had a fine fish and chip meal with the usual friendly service.

We thought that there may not be much room in here as there was a wedding reception with a marquee outside, however the inside of the pub was nice and cool with plenty of space, we were entertained by a magician who showed us a few card tricks.

Evening. Second of two venues in Wye for our monthly Friday Evening Group. Surprisingly relaxed and cool inside. There had been a wedding reception in a marquee outside earlier and a magician at that then entertained us with some sleight of hand card tricks as we stood at the bar.

It was a warm day and my dad had told me of a new beer in the Trout from Canterbury Ales. The garden was quite busy with late afternoon drinkers enjoying the sun twinkling off the ripples in the crystal clear river.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Trout Pout (house beer)3.90GoodSimilar flavours to Canterbury Ales' Wife of Bath. The landlord had told my dad that he'd had to buy 12 barrels of it as it had been brewed for him especially - which certainly implies it's not the Wife of Bath. Anyway, it was a little "pulpy" perhaps but still very drinkable.

A few in the bar area but the restaurant filled up throughout our time there and, according to the landlord, none had booked. How difficult it is to cater for this circumstance! Nonetheless we had a tasty meal and pleasant service.
