23 Jan 2014 (McGargle)
Busy night. Unimpressed by beer choice.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - Red MacGregor4.00Not TriedDrank Erdinger instead. Maybe should have stuck with Red McG. At least it would have been cheaper!
21 Nov 2013 (McGargle)
Busy. Indian jazz in the lounge.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - Hit The Lip3.80GoodCool, crisp, refreshing.
12 Sep 2013 (McGargle)
Busy in the lounge - some blues.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wickwar - Cotswold Way4.20AcceptableBoring, brown bitter. Why 3*? I had a good night.
15 Aug 2013 (McGargle)
Bar quiet. Busy in the lounge for The Jive Aces.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Scapa Special4.20AcceptableAs I wrote before: I don't really get on well with a number of Highland beers - to me they can be thin, dry and grainy. This was one of them.
24 Jul 2013 (Ray)
Folk Night so the back bar was busier than usual.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brewmeister - Blonde4.00PoorThis was an odd one. Initial impression is of a competent golden ale but then you get hints of honey and rubber and the twang more usually associated with Belgian yeast. Should it really have tasted like this? It was served cool and in good condition. One was quite enough.
13 Jun 2013 (McGargle)
Quiet. Juke box still not working.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - Happy Chappy4.10GoodCool and refreshing after a South Indian curry.
30 May 2013 (McGargle)
Although there was a charity gig in the Lounge, the bar was very quiet.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - Happy Chappy4.10GoodClean and refreshing it could do with a slightly bolder hop profile.
Cromarty - Atlantic Drift3.50GoodClean and quite easy drinking for a modern US style pale ale.
23 May 2013 (McGargle)
Quiet in the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Orkney IPA4.80AcceptableOne of Highland's more grainy brews. OK but not quite to my taste.
16 May 2013 (McGargle)
Busy for jazz night.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - Raven Ale3.80AcceptableNot to my taste. Dry and grainy. Limited evidence of hopping.
