Although I enjoyed myself on this, there are a couple of things that could be improved. More seating would be nice. I can understand the problems with fire regulations etc. but you have got to have some opporunity to sit down. This meant those eating food were always battling with drinkers in the canteen. The second thing was the afternoon kick out at 3pm only to be let in again at 5pm. I was here with some people from Ratebeer and it was all done in good spirit. Had a perry and some bottled German stuff as well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Fifty Not Out4.30ExceptionalGold beer with thin white head. Grapefruity aroma, typical of Dark Star. Good hoppy flavour, really good hoppy beer in fact
Fernandes - Malt Shovel Mild3.80ExcellentBlack colour with thin beige head. Good choc/coffee flavour and bitterness. Good dark mild, plenty of flavour, good dry tarry finish with more dark choc
Grand Union - One Hop Northdown4.50GoodGolden, sweaty hop aroma. Its fine. Good balance, hop is green and gives good flavour
Windsor Castle (see also Sadler's entry) - Harey Ale4.60AcceptableCopper with bubbly off white head. Nice enough subtle sweet hop aroma, bit of toffee/butter. Very dry hop finish. Bit of diacetyl maybe. Bit earthy but ok
Göller - Bock7.00AcceptableOrange/copper with lasting cream head. Very good finish, some toffee/hop/citrus. Not a huge aroma, bit of toffee, then orange/toffee dryness to the end.
Black Country - Pig on the Wall Mild4.30PoorDeep chestnut, thin beige head. Not sure this is how it should be, too much diacetyl butterscotch flavour
