13 Feb 2016 (Stephen Harris)
A rather quick lunchtime pint following Pie & Mash at Robins pie shop nearby. I did not note the wide range of cask beers available.
Sambrook's - Candlemaker Black IPA | 4.50 | | Near black in colour and very nice. Did not quite have the hop load that one expects from a beer in this style. |

Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Zephyr | 4.40 | Not Tried
13 May 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening for a quick one. Quite boisterous around the bar area. Lots of people eating elsewhere.
Weltons - Buckland Shag | 4.70 | | I don’t often select a Welton’s beer, but I was intrigued by the description of this one and enjoyed it. Pale gold and brewed with toasted oatmeal and coriander. |

15 Feb 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Just a brief, early-evening visit. The pub is busy and some customers have clearly had a few too many.

14 Mar 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Not much evidence here of a beer festival in progress. Just one from the list, served by gravity – the latter fact rather flummoxing the young barmaid who served us. I did not note all the other beers on offer and we were disappointed by the long queues and chaotic service.
Moorhouse's - APA Special | 4.80 | | I had high hopes for this one given its promised mix of US hops. But this pint was cold, flat and lifeless, dominated by sticky malt and with the hops struggling to shine. I hope for a better example elsewhere. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Adnams - Gunhill | 4.00 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Razorback | 3.80 | Not Tried
