The George (Greene King)
Visits Details

Hot Sunday afternoon. Another CAMRA heritage pub off my wish list. All customers sitting in the courtyard but I took a walk through the furthest bar area and a peek in the Parliament bar with its adjacent servery. The first floor gallery looking out onto the courtyard is impressive.
Regular GK ales on as well as the two beers I noted.

Monday evening and relatively uncrowded. I even managed to get a table in what I consider to be the best bar – the first one on the right as you enter the courtyard.
Greene King - London Glory | 4.10 | | This was not what I ordered. I asked for a pint of the Wold Top beer and my pint was pulled from that hand-pull, but it was clearly this beer that came out. Brown in colour and richly malty but with the characteristic GK yeast taste. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Long Man - Scary Man | 4.30 | Not Tried
Greene King - Morland Old Nutty Hen | 4.50 | Not Tried
Wold Top - Keeper's Light | 4.50 | Not Tried
Greene King - Oompah | 4.20 | Not Tried

A wonderful pub to visit every now and again. I’d struggle to deal with this sort of crowding on a regular basis though.
Southwark - Gold | 5.20 | | Foaming from the pump to the extent that it was taken off sale. Worth persevering with though, as once settled it was a great, crisp, golden beer – possibly in the Blonde style. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Greene King - Morland Old Golden Hen | 4.10 | Not Tried
Greene King - Napa Smith Brewery Pale Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried

Evening. A wallet emptying venue worthy of a very occasional visit - tourist trap. Hope the staff are on a lot more than minimum wage. The Gallery Bar upstairs was closed for the day. Lack of provenance of the house beer inevitably lead to me avoiding it.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Served 10% short that's 45p. Top up asked for and given |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried
St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | Not Tried | Only in the smaller downstairs bar which had ceased serving |
Greene King - IPA Gold | 4.10 | Not Tried
Greene King - Trial Brew Batch No. 03 Strong Ale | 5.20 | Not Tried | Brewed on the Bury St Edmunds experimental plant |
Greene King - The George Inn Ale (house beer) | 4.00 | Not Tried | I note from Stephen Harris's earlier visit that this is rebadged Morland Original - the shape of the china pump clip did, however, muchly remind me of the Sambrook's shape |
Sambrook's - The George Inn Ale (house beer) | 4.00 | Not Tried | Maybe the house beer is from Sambrook's as the pumpclip was china and in its size, shape and style |

Very busy, with many people outside on a mild evening.
