Jam-packed and steamy at 2pm ahead of a match at New York Stadium. There may have been additional beers available; it was difficult to get a clear view of the bar. The rising star amongst Rotherham real ale pubs, everyone was saying, and so worth the squash.

The pub is found in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, S60 1BD.

This pub was established in 1856 and was traditionally called the Prince of Wales Feathers. Once one of many in a long line of pubs along Westgate, it is now the only survivor. It was a Stones Brewery pub in its day, but is now the official brewery tap for Chantry Brewery. Recent re-naming reflects the pub’s proximity to the newly built New York Stadium, home of Rotherham United, and there is much Millers memorabilia displayed in the two rooms of this small pub.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 14 different beers and tried 3 of them.
