Astonished to hear yesterday that this pub now has its own brewery; I had to visit to try the beer. I spent most of the time standing in a corner trying to reconcile the reality of the crowded little bar with my rose-tinted memories of many nights here back in the pub’s 1980s glory years. Not one thing looked familiar on my first visit in 25 years plus.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bloomsbury - Hoppy IPA4.20GoodA reasonably good, golden beer with plenty of hop character.
Bloomsbury - Best Bitter4.10AcceptableA rather dull, brown beer, seemingly aimed at the GK IPA / Doom Bar drinker. Borderline two stars.
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00Not Tried

The pub is found in Bloomsbury, Central London, WC1N 3NB.

This pub in Lambs Conduit Street was established by the 1820s as the Sun and blossomed in the late-1970s, early-1980s as London’s original guest beer pub, selling a range of beers from regional brewers around the country. Renamed the Perseverance in the 1990s it lapsed back into relative obscurity. It is a street corner pub, with a fairly small ground floor bar and a lounge on the first floor. A micro-brewery was installed in the cellar in 2014 but it closed in 2016.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 6 different beers and tried 3 of them.
