Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Hogan SamplingGood07 Mar 2026 2nd beer of this visit: Very good head presented on this golden-coloured English pale ale timed for the Six Nations rugby matches and from Birling, north of West Malling, Kent, and with its lacing lasting throughout. A dry hoppy first hit with no doubt an additional helping of bittering hops to give it that extra bite it presented. A fruit-infused hoppiness rising from likely local hop varieties such as East Kent Goldings affording floral, honey and spicy notes and Fuggles, lending it an earthy, grassy and floral touch. Its pale malted barley giving it hints of a bready and biscuity flavouring and affording it a clear golden appearance. A dry and pleasantly hoppy note overcoming its fruity flavours on the sail out. In superb nick here.
