| Hogan Sampling | ![]() | 28 Mar 2026 | Very good head and lacing and sticking on all way on this Golden Pale Ale from the independent craft brewery based in Sussex, and while they originated in Brighton from 2017, their main production and current taproom are located in Burgess Hill. A dry hoppy resinous first hit. A hint of tropical fruits rising with strong citrus notes balanced with a malty sweetness. It most likely uses USA hops to achieve the "strong citrus" characteristic and where, for example, for their cask pale ales like Swoop!, they use a blend of Mosaic, Azacca, and Amarillo. It is likely the hops, Citra, Simcoe and Idaho 7 are aiding its juicy stone fruit flavours. A grapefruit note rearing up on my taste buds and so likely to be from the Cascade hop before its dry hoppiness prevails with a gentle fruitiness clinging on, on its final descent. Served in good condition. |
