Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Hogan SamplingGood17 Jan 2026 Very good head and lacing and lasting on what for me tasted like a liquid version of a packet of smoky bacon crisps. A smoky first growl for sure! A slightly sweetened bacon flavour pouncing up with cinder toffee, caramel and biscuity notes clawing my somewhat startled taste buds. A maltiness shining through from its Beechwood-smoked German malt. Its hoppy bitterness and peppery characteristics emerging from its 100% home-grown Farnham White Bine hops before shuffling downwards. This is the Tongham-based brewery's Christmas amber-coloured ale. Located between Guildford and Farnham, this family-owned Surrey brewery opened in 1992 and grows its own hops on Manor Farm.
