Hogan SamplingGood22 Aug 2026 Presented with very good head and lacing and lasting all the way on this pale ale from brewing set up in May 2018 in Margate, Kent. A very thick fruit juice-like consistency with a very dense hazy yellow, unfined appearance. A fruitiness rapidly rising from its double dry-hopped concoction utilising Nectaron from New Zealand behind its pineapple, passion fruit and peach notes, and Superdelic hops also from New Zealand behind its ripe red fruit sweetness, alongside US Citra Cryo* hops primarily grown in the Pacific Northwest region, such as Yakima, in Washington, lending a zesty citrus punch without any harsh, grass-like bitter aftertastes. Its maltiness derived from its copious lashings of wheat and oats to build up its hazy texture and wholesome body. A dry and crisp fruitiness in the finish before its ebbing downwards. In good form with lasting lacing but too over-fruited for me personally. *Cryo is a process where whole hop cones are cryogenically frozen using liquid nitrogen to cleanly separate the concentrated, flavour-packed lupulin glands from the green, leafy plant matter. It doubles the potency of tropical, juicy essential oils while eliminating the harsh, grassy and astringent "green" bitter notes often caused by heavy dry-hopping. In other words, it seems to remove all what I like about green hop ales with their oily, grassy, crisp freshness. A green-hopped beer is made from squeezing a raw, whole leaf directly into your beer, preserving all the water, raw plant oils, and pungent, leafy grassiness. Cryo hops are achieved from cold-extracting only the internal "fruit pollen" juice, leaving behind the green leaf to give you pure, concentrated tropical flavours without any of the backyard grassiness that any self-respecting lawnmower would be proud of.
