Hogan Sampling		27 Jun 2026	1st beer of this visit: Presented with very good head and lasting lacing on this light golden-coloured English pale ale from Kent Brewery founded in 2010 before in 2011 establishing their 10-barrel brewing plant at Birling Place Farm, situated north of West Malling, Kent. A very tropically fruited first hit. A dry hoppiness from its premium English-grown hops doing battle with its tropical fruitiness. Its hops are likely to be a mix of its bittering hops, East Kent Goldings, and also lending a slightly sweet honey and spicy touch, and Fuggles and often paired with Goldings to add a well-rounded, earthy, and grassy depth. Its fruity hops are likely to be First Gold, an English hop grown widely in Kent that imparts a sharp, lively citrus and orange peel flavour, Challenger aiding its smooth floral and subtle fruited notes, and Jester or Harlequin, newer-generation British hops bred specifically to rival intense New World hops with their punchy, tropical, and grapefruit-like fruit flavours for me. A dry hoppiness paddling out with a hint of maltiness from its traditional British pale ale malted barley. Just a touch too sweet for me but served in good nick.
