Hogan SamplingExcellent25 Jul 2026 Very impressive head and lasting lacing on this ruby red ale from the market town of Masham, North Yorkshire, and whose brewery was founded in 1827. A fruited but dry bitter first bite on this Spring Ruby and which is a red-coloured cask ale brewed by Theakston Brewery as a seasonal exclusive closely mirroring the flavour profile of Theakston's famous Theakston XB Premium Bitter. A hoppy bitterness rising from its English Bramling Cross and Fuggles hops. A touch of malty sweetness winning over from its English malted barley lending flavours of caramel, toffee, rhubarb and apple fruit. A dry hoppiness but fruited with berries sliding downwards. In fine form with good conditioning.
