Hogan SamplingExcellent22 Aug 2026 Very good head and lacing sticking to this collaborative golden ale by Kent Brewery, founded in 2010, and situated from 2011 at Birling Place Farm, in Birling, Kent, north of West Malling, and Moot Brew Company at Court Farm in Upper Halling, near Rochester, Kent, and formed in June 2021 and opening their public taproom in March 2023. This ale was brewed to mark the 2026 Invicta Brewing Project, showcasing the best of traditional local agriculture through modern, sessionable golden ale styles. A dry fruited first hit. A hoppy, earthy and slightly citrusy note rising from its locally sourced Kentish hops such as varieties like Goldings and Fuggles for its bitterness. The hop blend here chosen for Victrix lending a touch of apricot flavouring for me. A hint of sweet maltiness climbing from traditional Maris Otter, the base pale malt, lending a bready and subtly sweet biscuity flavour for my taste buddies. A resinous hoppiness prevailing and a good hearty hoppy-infused wave on its downwards journey. Served in very good nick with lasting conditioning.
