| Hogan Sampling | | 11 Jul 2026 | Presented with very good head and almost lasting lacing on this best bitter from the in-house brewing set up in 1985 in the back of the First In Last Out (FILO) pub in the Old Town of Hastings, East Sussex, before the brewing operation relocated in 2011 a few hundred yards up the road to a Grade II-listed stable at Torfield Cottage, Old London Road. A dry bitter first hit. A malty bitterness rising with hints of caramel, fruit, honey and light chocolate from locally sourced grains and malts. A fruity hoppiness joining in from its earthy hops, English Fuggles and Goldings. A malty bitterness playing out and scoring all the bitter hoppy notes on my palate with a toasted nutty flavour lingering. Served in good nick. |
| Hogan Sampling | | 28 Jun 2025 | Came with good head and lacing and lasting on this home-brewed amber best bitter. A fruity-infused hoppy first bite aided by its Goldings and Fuggles hops. A dry-hopped bitter mouthfeel with a hint of a nut or two rising and winning over its fruity hoppiness. A dry moreish bitterness lingering. |
