Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

The Douglas Arms, Banchory, Aberdeenshire

WhoScoreWhenNotes
RayAcceptable25 Jun 2010 Slightly darker than usual. With none of the citrus hop flavour expected from Nechtan the beer seemed thin. Unique oval pump clip has been re-designed into an anonymous item. Disappointing, maybe should have scored it 2*.

The Archibald Simpson, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire

McGargleExcellent04 May 2010 4.3/4 stars! Excellent combination of citrussy hops and pale malt - perfectly served.
RayPoor24 Jan 2010 Strong floral aromas. Harsh flavours, hint of parma violets. End of cask.
RayNot Tried30 Nov 2009 One of my favourites but no time to try it tonight.
McGargleExcellent30 Nov 2009 Golden colour with white lacy head. Powerful hop aromas and uncompromisingly hoppy and bitter offset by softer malts. Short dry finish.
McGargleAcceptable02 Oct 2009 Poured clear and bright with a tight long lasting head. Tasted a little tired.
McGargleExcellent31 Jul 2009 Another new ale from Deeside. Light and hoppy with lasting citrus aromas. ABV not noted.

Krakatoa (formerly The Moorings Bar), Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire

RayAcceptable29 Jan 2010 Clear light gold. Drier, more astringent finish than expected.
RayExcellent13 Nov 2009 Absolutely clear with tight long lasting white head. Brewed with Amarillo hops this time and bursting with sharp citrus flavours with long satisfying finish. 4.1/2*
McGargleExcellent28 Aug 2009 Top form. Floral, hoppy with dry bitter finish. So tasty that I didn't get round to trying the Valhalla beers.
McGargleGood03 Aug 2009 Slighty hazy but bursting with citrus flavours.

The Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham, West Midlands
