Ian | | 29 Nov 2006 | Ruby colour with disappeared beige head. Malty strong ale. Some choc. Bit watery in mouth. Nice malts though, dry malt in evidence, some choc, bit of dried tobacco. Dryness, spice on end. Fine, if just a little lacking in intensity. |

Ian | | 07 Jan 2006 | Very dark brown, hints of gold, no head. Demerara sugar, dark treacle, touch of spice on aroma. Slightly medicinal in mouth with sour liquorice on end. Old ales this year have bee odd at times. This is in the line of Grand Union and Goachers Olds I’ve had. Sour, sometimes medicinal, staleness present and even at times slightly unpleasant until you get into the zone. These flavours make these beers interesting though. Some dry oloroso sherry like flavours too. Pleased I had it and took 2 pints of take out too |
