Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

The Queens Head, Sheet, Hampshire

Hogan SamplingGood09 Aug 2025 Head and lacing, very good, and lasting, good, on this Devon bitter from England's highest brewery in Station Road, Princetown. While the station is long-gone, the brewing tradition thankfully is alive and kicking. A fruity bitter first bite. A gentle maltiness coming to the fore along with a spice-infused malty note bobbing up and down with a hint of caramel. A dry hoppy bitterness winning over and a pleasantly hop-infused fruitiness drifting off down my hatch.
Hogan SamplingGood05 Jul 2025 Head and lacing, good, on this Devon bitter from England's highest brewery in Station Road, Princetown. The station is long-gone but the brewing tradition thankfully alive and kicking. Lacing lasting to start with and so only fair. A dry bitter first hit. A gentle crisp maltiness rising up with the odd spice-infused malty note bobbing up and down. A hopped bitterness prevailing and a pleasantly dry fruitiness lingering alongside.

McGargleAcceptable30 Oct 2010 In 2008 Princetown Brewery changed its name to Dartmoor Brewery. Pleasant enough amber ale, hints of baker's yeast and slightly cloying mouthfeel.
