1st visit of the outing: Busy for our early afternoon arrival with some locals in before the Tonbridge Angels Football Club's match. Friendly, prompt service from the barmaid with two cask on. A table to be had for our party of three. A very traditional, wet-led looking pub and appears to have escaped a modern-look makeover. Pool and darts playing customers are catered for. The pub can be traced back to 1841 from its licensee listing.

Good head and lacing and lasting on this Lewes-brewed Sussex bitter. A hoppy bitter first bite. A subtle fruitiness rising with hints of floral spice. Its four different local hop varieties lending its a moreish hoppiness. Its Maris Otter and Crystal malt giving it a touch of caramel flavouring. A pleasant bitterness ebbing out.

Late afternoon after local footie match, a few friendly locals in sheltering from the incessant rain. Must support this more, as it's now my nearest pub.

Only one handpump, most often dispensing Harvey's Best, we were told.

Not a pub I know, could only see one real ale available but it was very well kept and served.
