Quiet inside with a couple of free tables outside so headed there. Just missed the lunchtime rush as many of the vacated tables had yet to be cleared.
| Long Man - Long Blonde | 3.80 | | A light coloured golden pale ale with a distinctive hoppy aroma and a crisp, clean bitterness on the finish. |
| Long Man - Rising Giant | 4.80 | | Citrus fruit aroma and a robust bitterness underpinned by a balanced malt backbone. |

The third Rye pub on my wish list (The Waterworks) didn’t open until 2 pm, after my departure time) so I tried this.
Lunchtime, a few diners in but no obvious locals. More of a restaurant feel.

I almost gave up trying to get served as the staff were busy in the back office looking at the computer screen. I understand that it was to do with staff rotas, however when I did get served I found the staff to be helpful and enthusiastic.

This pub seems to be specialising in local beers and ciders. This is in a tourist location and there were many people eating.

Roomy old pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Open log fire. Comfy corner with leather chairs. More a restuarant than a just a pub. Food more on the classy side.
| Rother Valley - Boadicea Ale | 4.50 | | Amber colour. No smell. Tangy but not strong. Well kept, pleasant beer. |
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Hoegaarden - Hoegaarden | 5.00 | Not Tried | Witbier (= White beer) Wheat beer served in a 'flowerpot' glass. Great thirst quencher in the summer. |
