No customers inside the main bar, adjoining rear dining-room and garden, but welcomed by three real ales and two bar staff at about 9pm.

Pale ale was pleasantly lightly fruit-flavoured and carbonation at first. £2.75 a half so slightly more than what I would normally pay down the road for this strength beer.

Evening visit thwarted by pub being closed for the night and a wave of closed from bar staff inside. A bank holiday Sunday too!

Evening visit until 10.30 pm close. My first visit for many a year and remember it well when run 40 years ago as the Duke of Edinburgh by an elderly couple who chalked the bar bill calculations on a cast iron pillar (the pillar is proudly still there) and used glasses "to die for". All changed now of course being a friendly entrepreneurial establishment.

Taster seemed very sour, I persevered and it mellowed after a few sips of the larger measure. Slight haze
