28 Feb 2023 (Jack William)
Mid afternoon visit. Another tick in my National Heritage Pubs book. Not at all busy, time and space to walk about and appreciate the glorious interior. Pint just over £6 though: “Salisbury Pale Ale” at 4.0% - couldn’t ascertain the provenance of this.

St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | Not Tried

Uncomfortably busy in the early evening. Not a chance of a seat tonight.
Oldershaw - American Pale | 3.80 | | I do like a beer name that tells me something about the beer itself. As expected, this was a pale-coloured beer with plenty of US hop flavours. A bit low in strength for the style. |

Inevitably busy in the early evening. I found a space in the little partitioned side room.

Very busy when I arrived at around 7:15, but rapidly emptying as Theatre kick-off times approached. I was somehow rumbled as a CAMRA member and immediately offered a discount without having to ask.

Evening - after theatre kicking out time I suppose. The CAMRA card holders' discount is most welcome in this premium priced house.
St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | | Traditional bitter - proper stuff |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Over £4 pp before the CAMRA discount. A variable beer too often these days - good condition but did not taste like recent Landlords |

2220 hours and busy with Theatreland and tourists so lots of comings and goings. Good to see a CAMRA card holder discount of 10% prominently advertised. Never been in before despite having walked past hundreds of times.
St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | | Mediocre. Even the barman asked me what it was like then admitted the cask was well down |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | Was off when first ordered |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | New cask put on and when first customer ordered it frothed up (but as it settled looked great) but sales were suspended presumably because of the time it would take to dispense in such a busy pub |
