Very big. A drunk bloke at the bar. Friendly staff. Sat in the garden, which is now paved.
Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | Bit too warm |

Here for footie again. Delighted to see a 0-0 draw. Lots of life in this pub on a Friday night - almost everyone about 1/3 of my age and no one else drinking the real ale. San Miguel - at something north of £5 a pint - seemed very popular.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | | Had two pints of this - thought it might get better but it didn’t. |

Late afternoon, came to watch football. Decide to come here as my last footie TV experience was at the real ale graveyard that the Seven Stars is now. Forgot this is a Shep’s pub (the outside signage hides it well). My heart sank at the choice of Masterbrew or Whitstable Bay, but the TV coverage was good in the front bars! The back area has been extended and is much larger than I recalled previously with a patio garden area beyond which was in use on this warm November day.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | Rather tired. |
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | Bland. Pint topped up ok when asked. |

Lunchtime to say goodbye to my boss, who's off to pastures new. The garden was pleasant and the sun was out.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | Quite nice. |

A swift pint after work. Very relaxed and enjoyable.

Now called the "Old City Bar" - presumably some Shepherd Neame marketing decision.
A large screen in each of the two bars showing league cup football - really loud volume despite only two people watching.
Bar staff friendly enough - but not really tuned in to the customers.
Nice layout, would have been very pleasant if the TV had not been so dominant.
Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | Very good condition, taste nothing special. |
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | Not Tried
20 Dec 2013 (Andrew)
Here for Glen's leaving drinks.
Shepherd Neame - Christmas Ale | 5.00 | | Very cloudy so had a taste of yeast, but still, not too bad. |
20 Dec 2011 (Andrew)

Sat in a nice corner and enjoyed some interesting conversation about burgers.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | | This was quite good. Fruity but just lacked a little condition. |
