Brief evening visit. Although the rear wood panelled room is quite atmospheric this pub never seems to quite do it for me.

Evening visit. With recent change of habits had almost forgotten what it was like to go to a non-Wetherspoon non-micropub traditional pub. Pity visit soured by mismatch between price list on wall and price charged on the till.

Located on the Old Dover Road this is an attractive and imposing 3 storey building with ground and first floor veranda style coverings. For many years a Courage pub and was usually present in the early CAMRA Good Beer Guides. Traditional sports oriented front public bar and a separate saloon to the right rear with dark wood wall panelling. Paved rear garden area. Bar counter in public bar has 4 handpumps and that in saloon has 4 handpumps too.
We have visited this pub 9 times, seen 9 different beers and tried 6 of them.
