Lunchtime, Monday about 1. Diners dominating inside and out but pleasant service. This is the first stop on my “heritage interiors” quest for the day - heading towards Hastings on my bike. Had a quick look around the ground floor - it screams “old and quaint”.
| Pig & Porter - Mermaid Ale | 3.40 | | House bitter brewed for them by P&P (or rebadged maybe). A little cloudy but ok. Only £5 - surprised in this tourist trap. |

The public bar is at the rear of the hotel and is an old cosy room with a huge inglenook fireplace. There was a wedding going on in a different part of the building which we could hear but not see.
| Long Man - Long Blonde | 3.80 | | Light watery body. Strong citrus hop. Pale gold. Slightly hazy. |
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Evening. A member of staff sitiing in the front porch said she could hear me puffing up the hill from far away! Very patrician, reserved and intimate hotel bar. Very personable service. Seems a good place for trysts and conspiracies.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Best Harvey's of the evening, indeed best beer of the evening. Lovely head retention |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
