Mid evening and I expected a Monday quiet house but it was packed with quizzers, all seats taken and crowded at the bar and on a damp balmy late autumn night it was sweating hot inside so I turned tail.

Double bay fronted terraced whitewashed pub up the hill from the railway station in Guildford Road. Bare boarded with an L-shaped counter equipped with 5 handpumps. Large beer garden at rear. There is another room "behind the bar".
