Quiet on a December Wednesday lunchtime.
Bristol Beer Factory - Southville Hop | 6.50 | | Strong amber bitter with a strong citrus hop bitterness. Just a little too strong flavoured for my taste. My score 14/20. |

Very quiet early on a Saturday afternoon.
Stroud - Five Valleys | 5.00 | | Strong dark brown bitter with a bitter, hoppy character with a little malt presence. Short, dry finish. My score 14/20. |

This was an odd pub. Imagine a small village hall but full of assorted drinkers, both social and hardcore. The main hall-like room is raised up a foot or so by what looks like a stage platform. It's all a bit odd but somehow works well.

Ramshackle!. Friendly bar staff and an amazing array of customers. The clientele is an eclectic mix of solo and social drinkers. One slightly crazy looking lone guzzler (don't make eye contact) 2 Spanish ladies knocking back pints of butcombe blonde, an elderly gent making constant trips to the bar for cups of tea with large Vodka chasers and a hippy chick skipping through the pub on her way back from the toilet. Fanstastic place with a real buzz, even at 5:30 on a saturday evening.
Andy says "This is the type of place the Vikings would have drunk at before going out to fight battles. This is a drinking hall".
I say "Local brews for local people" (see list of beers).
