Standing room only until someone left for a taxi and I snaffled a table.
Castle Rock - Walrus | 4.00 | | Decent trad bitter. |
Mobberley - US Single Hop Series: Amarillo | 4.60 | | OK, a little boring and plain. |
Newby Wyke - Black Beerd's | 4.30 | Not Tried
Heritage (formerly William Worthington Brewery, now brewed at Burton Bridge) - St Modwen Golden Ale (superseded by 4.2% version) | 4.10 | Not Tried
19 Nov 2016 (Nick Willis)
Busy with visitors from Lichfield CAMRA, a few of whom had those horrible Aston Villa tops on...
Happy Valley - Blackout XO | 4.40 | | A very good smooth rum stout. Tasted above it's strength. |
Rat - Rye Rats of the Caribbean | 4.80 | | A little disappointing for a red rye ale. Flavours understated. |
Grafton - Coco Loco | 4.50 | | Straight from the cask. Tasted like coconut sun tan oil. |
Phoenix - Wobbly Bob | 6.00 | Not Tried
Black Hole - Red Dwarf | 4.50 | Not Tried

Chucking it down outside. Nice and relaxed in here.
Heritage (formerly William Worthington Brewery, now brewed at Burton Bridge) - Charrington IPA | 4.50 | | Surprisingly very good. |
Mr Grundy's - Blighty | 4.50 | | A mild but very stout like. Smooth with a hint of smoke. |
Hop Vine (formerly Burscough) - Duke of Lancasters | 4.00 | | Decent traditional bitter. |
Urban Huntsman (cuckoo) - The Outlaw | 5.50 | | Quite a floral pale. |

It was quiet early doors.
Fernandes - Rhubarb and Custard | 4.00 | | A very nice pale with a sweet finish. |
Black Hole - Starry Night | 4.40 | | Nice dry bitter with a hint of smoke. |
Bridgehouse - Cherry Choc Stout | 6.00 | | Decent enough stout but no cherry to be found. |

Quite a few in and I managed to grab the last of the comfy chairs. Happened to meet one of my untappd friends for the first time and we had a good chat about beer and local beer festivals.
Sandstone - Post Mistress | 4.40 | | I've been disappointed with many of this brewery's beers in the past but they have upped their game. This autumnal fruit bitter was spot on. Tip top condition. |
Falstaff - Gunpowder Plot | 4.20 | | Very good session gold from Falstaff, in fine condition. Far better than the Parliament Burns I had the other day. |
Sandstone - Oaked Onyx | 4.00 | | Session stout. Very complex, excellent. |
Wily Fox - Mutiny | 5.00 | | |

Friendly landlord, I snaffled a comfy at the bottom of the stairs.
Great Heck - Vanilla Wheat Stout | 5.40 | | Wheat in a stout, bizarre. This is very wheaty. |
Happy Valley - Bollywood IPA | 5.90
Spitting Feathers - Special Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried
Front Row - Crouch | 3.80 | Not Tried

Friendly landlord, rather intimate in the front room in this micro pub. Barrels behind a pair of french doors in the window and cooled from there. Interesting selection of ales.
Abbeydale - Dr Morton's Sound Barrier | 4.30 | | Decent golden, not as good as Abbeydale usually are. |
Happy Valley - Tie The Knot | 5.00
Wrekin (formerly Ironbridge) - Best Bitter | 3.90 | | A very malty bitter. |
Hopcraft (experimental side of Pixie Spring) - Crema Extrema Porter | 5.00 | | Hopcraft beers are usually excellent, this tasted like cold espresso. Far too much coffee. |
