14:50 Having failed to get in the Bear, packed, we came here. Busy downstairs so went to the upper room which we had to ourselves.

Mid-afternoon. Thousands of tourists thronging the streets outside, but pretty quiet in here. Nice pub.

Here at 12.00 on the first of the Ratebeer.com Oxford pub crawl. I liked the atmosphere and architecture here.

White Horse - Giant

First beer of the day, and what a great way to start. Chestnut colour with thin beige head. Decent bitter with nice hop. Some syrupy malt, nutty flavours. Decent bitterness on finish.
White Horse - Oxfordshire Bitter
3.70
Decent grassy little bitter. Nice dryness on the end. Bit of fruit, nice golden session bitter.
Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood then at Banks's) - Oxford Gold
4.00
Gold with lasting beige head. It’s a little fruity, but ultimately a rather dullish ordinary bitter. Bit of yeasty. But not great and just a little bland.
Right in the centre of Oxford in St Aldate's. Lovely pub with lots of dark wood. Front room has the bar to the left and then a rear room with more seating. 6 handpumps.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 22 different beers and tried 7 of them.
