1st stop on the outing: Although I arrived some 10 minutes before its 12 noon opening and was their first customer, I was admitted with a warm welcome and having pressed the doorbell of what was called Rocklands. The name is still used as part of its postal address. A cappuccino and what proved to be a very tasty cooked breakfast came first before sampling one of their two real ales. I duly sat on a comfortable outside chair on the club's terrace, overlooking their extensive lawns that are complete with bench seating. Just 15 minutes trot from Tunbridge Wells' town centre got me to this peaceful haven. Their sizeable carpark started to fill up and I saw a cake being carried in and so a birthday gathering no doubt in the making.

Dorking - DB One Best4.20ExcellentSuperb head and lacing on this Dorking bitter, from south-east of Dorking itself at Capel, and lasting throughout. A very bitter but not too malty first bite. A moreish bitterness rising and a gentle fruitiness bobbing along aided by its Bobek and Bramling Cross hops and English malt, Maris Otter, in on the mix. A pleasantly dry bitterness sailing off. Very moreish indeed and could easily have done more than a half but others to meet from a London CAMRA branch back in Tunbridge Wells' town centre.

Tunbridge Wells Constitutional Club (its home formerly known as Rocklands) is some 15 minutes’ walk from the town centre at 1 Sandrock Road, Tunbridge Wells. Although a private members’ club, it allows CAMRA visitors with their CAMRA card normally one visit per calendar month. Two real ales on, on a visit at the end of August 2025: Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter and Dorking Brewery’s DB One Best. Most recently it was CAMRA local branch Club of the Year 2024. An impressive frontage greets you off the main Sandrock Road where two grand Doric columns give it a stately-home appearance. On the inside there are two sizeable lounges, a snooker hall in the basement and function rooms upstairs. It has a terraced garden with seating and extensive lawns with bench seating. It hosts regular entertainment nights. Lunchtime and evening meals available but check times. No dogs admitted. Close by is Dunorlan Park, a Victorian garden, meadows and wildlife haven. As well as the amenities of a modern park, it is some 78 acres in size and comprises a 6-acre lake.
