11 Mar 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Late afternoon visit. My choice to try and justifiably so. Massively popular with youf who were trying beer but far too many were ordering the draught and bottled fizz ones.
Anspach & Hobday - The Three Threads | 6.00 | | My first A&P as it is usually seen on fizz. A slow drinking one to savour |
Bad Co. - Love over Gold | 4.10 | Not Tried
Hop Studio - Fire & Ice | 5.00 | Not Tried
25 Jun 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Very busy in the early evening. The weather is hot and pretty much everybody is standing outside.
Anspach & Hobday - The Porter | 6.70 | | Great to see an A&H beer on cask dispense. It’s too dark in the pub to see if this is a Brown Porter or a Black Porter. Rich and alcoholic. |
Great Heck - Navigator | 3.90 | | A very good quality, straightforward, reddish-brown, malty Bitter. |
20 Dec 2014 (Andrew)
Very busy, quite dark and quite Christmasy. Actually one of the pump clips was hand written and so faded that in the dark light even the barman was uncertain as to what it was.
WharfeBank - Washburn Best | 3.70 | | Bit sweet and 1D. |
Waen - Fire on High | 3.90 | Not Tried
12 Nov 2013 (Judy G Garland)

16 Jan 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Quite busy in the mid-evening, but we found a table and relaxed over a very decent pint in the glow of a job well done – five pubs surveyed.
Blackjack - Aces High IPA | 5.50 | | A full-bodied, strong, hoppy, IPA-style beer. |
RedWillow - Headless | 3.90 | Not Tried
Brewster's - Hopticale Illusion | 4.00 | Not Tried
Harviestoun - Old Engine Oil | 4.50 | Not Tried
30 Jul 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Very quiet in here, mid-afternoon on a Monday. I’m merely pausing for refreshment whilst pursuing my Olympic dreams.
Binghams - Brit Hop (Pale Ale) | 3.70 | | A well-balanced, amber-coloured pint with British malt and hops character. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Fyne - Hurricane Jack | 4.40 | Not Tried
Tiny Rebel - Urban IPA | 5.50 | Not Tried
27 Mar 2012 (Stephen Harris)
I popped in here for a quick one on the way to a function nearby. Nice atmosphere, with many people sitting outside to take advantage of the freakishly warm weather.
Rooster's - Leghorn | 4.30 | | A pale, balanced beer. |
Harviestoun - Old Engine Oil | 6.00 | Not Tried
East London (ELB) - Nightwatchman | 4.50 | Not Tried
Harwich Town - Pin-Up Natural Blonde | 3.80 | Not Tried
24 Jan 2012 (Stephen Harris)
A great new addition to London’s booming craft beer scene. Four handpumps to support (mostly) local brewers, good kegs and two fridges full of interesting bottles. A bit pricey though. Deservedly busy.
Oakham - Tranquility | 6.50 | | I really enjoyed this strong, orangey-hoppy, sweetish, sipping beer. |
Redemption - Trinity | 3.00 | | Rapidly becoming my favourite beer. All that hoppiness and body for just 3% |
Redemption - Fellowship Porter | 5.10 | | A black porter with a tan head. Smooth, roasted malt and plenty of chocolate. |
Camden Town - Show Boat | 4.50 | | Deep red/brown in colour. Predominantly malt taste, with some background hopping. |
