My friend remembered this place from the days when it known as the Bear. It has undoubtedly changed a lot since then. Shepherd Neame recently purchased the freehold from Enterprise Inns (now EI Group) and it is managed by the Elite Pub Company, we came here primarily for the food which is of an extremely high quality, we were pleased to see that no hidden extras were added to the restaurant bill.

Last pub of an evening's crawl of Malling and this was the busiest and brashest. Hardly seemed to be living up to its externally signed Gastropub epithet.

Family gathering for lunch. Pub was busy, bar bit spartan, restaurant very comfortable. Excellent food.

The pub is found in West Malling, Kent, ME19 6NA.
This used to be an hotel in the High Street. Now is has a restaurant to the left and bar/bistro area to the right with a garden/patio at the rear. Bar area is mix of bistro/bar and plush leather chairs. 3 handpumps. Acquired by Shepherd Neame in June 2016. Operated by Elite Pubs.
