The one pub that I really wanted to come back to in Edinburgh as I had such fond memories of it. Perhaps it was because it was so full and so hot due to the Edinburgh Festival, but it was a little uncomfortable. Still a fabulous bar and the architecture is superb. Numerous handpumps with a line of beers from Caledonian and a line from Harviestoun.

| Harviestoun - Old Engine Oil | 6.00 | | Softer in cask that in bottle. Tarry, good espresso, great mouthfeel. Really rather good. NIce tarry bitter finish. A lot wider in the mouthfeel than the oilier bottled beer. Great to find this on cask. |

Had given some friends a lift through to Edinburgh and stopped for lunch in the balcony restaurant area. Friendy service. Sat by the railings where I could see the ales blackboard. Two new ones appeared just in the hour we were there.
