09 Dec 2019 (Magnus Greel)
Spot on 15.00 opening we were the first customers upon arrival, comfortable and welcoming the subtle lighting made for a relaxed atmosphere. I've only listed the three cask ales available.
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Polly Wants A Cracker | 4.50 | | Dry hoppy earthy mid golden ale |
Great North Eastern - Rivet Catcher | 4.00 | Not Tried
Cwrw Iâl - Atlantic 252 | 5.00 | Not Tried
10 Aug 2019 (Stephen Harris)
I'm at the back of a queue of around 20 people when the door opens promptly at noon. The little pub is instantly full.
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Session I.P.A. | 4.20 | | Golden. Disappointing. Unexpectedly malt-dominated. |
Rooster's - Weakender | 3.00 | Not Tried
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Pint Break | 5.00 | Not Tried
19 Oct 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Mid evening visit. Superb banter at the small bar counter.
Framework - Oatmeal Pale Ale | 4.80 | | Clip also said Pattern #PA0010 Magnum, Pacifia (sic), Mosaic. A superb well balanced easy drinking beer with great flavour |
Mallinsons - Amarillo XL | 5.50 | | Harsh bitterness |
Mallinsons - Rakau Cascade | 4.10 | Not Tried
22 Aug 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening's last visit.
Siren Craft - Under Current | 4.50
Merlin - Avalon | 4.10 | Not Tried
Northern Monk - Faith | 5.40 | Not Tried | Stronger version than previously |
30 Jun 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Planned last evening stop. Extensive food offerings being noshed which, of course, invalidates this otherwise being a Micropub.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Galaxia | 4.50
Bristol Beer Factory - Mischief | 5.00 | | Full bodied big hitter |
Bristol Beer Factory - Nova | 3.80 | Not Tried
09 May 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening's last visit.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Otter's Tears | 6.00 | | Dry as a bone after-taste made it moreish |
Mallinsons - Centennial | 3.90 | | Subtly hopped |
Summer Wine (SWB) - Bramling Cross | 4.00 | Not Tried
22 Feb 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening's last stop.
Squawk - IPA El Dorado, Chinook | 6.10 | | The hops and the abv did justice to each other |
Squawk - Pale Ale El Dorado, Chinook, Simcoe | 3.90 | | Interesting when compared to the heavier hitting IPA with both of IPA's hops |
Merlin - Sir Lancelot | 4.50 | Not Tried
02 Jan 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Mid evening visit and launch pad for last train home. Took the chance to purchase a couple of Duvel Tripel Hop bottles to take home, something one rarely sees, these ones with added Experimental Hop HBC 291.
Blackjack - Jabberwocky | 4.10
Anarchy - Quiet Riot | 6.60 | | Smooth and innocent of taste for its strength |
Poynton - Hoppy Daze | 3.80 | Not Tried
07 Sep 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening's last call.
Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - US IPA #2 | 5.40 | | Good hop hit |
First Chop Brewing Arm - MCR Manchester Bitter | 4.40 | | Sourish and not very nice, to my palate |
North Riding Brewery - US Session IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried
04 Jul 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Lots of talk here about other than cask ale. As always they pay over the top for it though.
Great Heck - Proverbs 31:6 | 6.00 | | Different proverb, stronger beer! |
Deva - Citra'd | 4.80 | | Disappointing. First out for a while I imagine and not very crisp tasting as a result |
Squawk - Pale Ale Sorachi Ace, Chinook | 4.00 | Not Tried
