The pub is found in Westminster, Central London, SW1H 0NP.
This pub was founded in around 1842 as the Blue Coat Boy, being rebuilt and re-named the Albert Tavern in 1867 after acquisition by the Artillery Brewery of Westminster to be the brewery tap. It is a grand building, with patterned brickwork and two iron balconies along the frontage. It must once have dominated the scene on this stretch of Victoria Street, but it is now conspicuously the only building of its era remaining in the area and is itself now dwarfed by surrounding office blocks. Inside there is a single ground floor bar, albeit effectively split in to front and rear areas. A grand staircase leads to a first floor restaurant. The bar itself has impressive wooden fittings and there is plenty of surviving etched glass. There are a few pavement tables. Front area counter has 6 handpumps, rear one has 5 too but these 5 are usually out of use.
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 3 of them.
