The pub is found in Clapton, Greater London, E5 0LF.
A well-loved, backstreet, neighbourhood pub that was established by 1872 as the Priory Tavern. It was at a meeting here in 1898 that the decision was taken by Orient Football Club (who had their HQ here) to rename themselves Clapton Orient Football Club, to better identify with the up and coming district. Landlord Charles Lovelock would later become the club President. The pub was refitted in the 1930s and it still has an Art Deco feel, although the two rooms had been opened out somewhat by 1986. In 2002 the pub was renamed Eclipse and in 2008 again renamed Elderfield. Historically a Charrington’s house, there is still a large ‘Toby’ plaque on the outside wall.
We have visited this pub once, seen 5 different beers and tried 1 of them.
