I decided to try this place out. It was packed with football supporters watching the England Wales game and competing for volume with loud music on a sound system. I just had the one pint here.

A welcome improvement in this pub’s appearance and drinks offerering since the last time I was here. Very quiet in the early evening.

The pub is found in Stratford, Greater London, E15 4BQ.

This pub was present on Stratford Broadway by 1896, although until at least the 1920s it was licensed as a ‘Refreshment Room & Beer Retailer’, rather than as a full-blown pub. A Watney’s house, it traded for many years as the Two Puddings. In later years the pub did not have a good reputation, dispensing with cask beer some time in the 1990s and relying on a late night ‘disco’ trade. In 2001 the pub was revamped and relaunched as Latin ¼, which was again a late-night party venue. Relaunched once more in 2016 as the Refreshment Room, this is essentially a return to recognisable pub values and with a reference to the pub’s history in its name. The large, single bar area is accessed via a short corridor between two retail units. It has modern furnishings and street art on the wall. There is a rear garden. Three handpumps on the bar. Closed spring 2023, probably for financial reasons. Re-opened with name change autumn 2023.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
