Only my second visit since 31st August 2024 to this Thorley Taverns' pub. It is run by a family originally from Bermondsey and whose first Thanet-based pub was The Charles Dickens on Broadstairs' seafront which opened in 1975 and they now run 18 pubs locally. Busy as on my first visit last year for this early afternoon visit to this backstreet pub completely off the tourist trails. We were now joined by our third real ale enthusiast from SE London on this daytrip and who caught up with us at the Mind The Gap micro. We were too early for that one because it does not open until 2pm on a Saturday. Warm welcome and prompt, friendly service. Just the one real ale still on and from local Gadds' microbrewery.

Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider4.30GoodCame with very good head and lacing and stayed throughout on this Ramsgate-based amber ale. A pleasantly hoppy-infused first bite. A dry fruity bitterness, aided by a little crystal malt, looming up on this tangerine-coloured ale and a superbly dry hoppiness from its Goldings hops pervading. The odd fruity note or two joining in and lasting.

Surprisingly busy for a backstreet pub completely off the tourist trails and for my early afternoon and first visit to this Thorley Taverns pub. Warm welcome and prompt, friendly service. Just the one real ale on but the good local one as in Gadds.

Early evening and busy inside as as well as out, comfortable traditional interior alas spoilt by several TV screens taking over the wall space, hence we decided to sit out again and enjoy the warm evening sunshine.

My first visit here, this was lunchtime and there were just a few at the bar, one gentleman was sitting at the bar struggling with a crossword clue of Number Calling Game, five letters. I suggested that either Lotto or Bingo might fit the clue and then left to catch my bus.
