Sought this out specifically for its heritage status. Warm welcome late afternoon. A few customers filing most of the front room which had a real fire. We sat at the table opposite the serving area. The table doubled up as a sales area selling crisps, peanuts, pickled eggs and chocolate bars - all ready to be self served. Only one ale, straight from the barrel but about six poly pins of various ciders that seemed to be going well. Worth finding - a real gem.

Butcombe - Original4.00AcceptablePerfectly drinkable but flat. The barrel was on full tilt. Next one ready to take over but I couldn’t stay that long unfortunately.

The pub is found in Faulkland, Somerset, BA3 5XF.

Three room rural pub. Grade II listed and a main entry in CAMRA Heritage pubs for its well preserved interior. The original pub is tiny with no bar - serving carried out straight from the barrel in a recess between two seating areas. The pub now forms part of a larger complex including a pool and skittle room, café and a camping ground.
