Very quiet upon my 12.15ish arrival, just two other customers during my hour or so stay. Usual great choice of beers I could have stayed much longer but off to BSE to meet up with some friends.

I came here twice today - for lunch with my brother and nephew and again in the early evening for a couple of beers with a friend. I think it would be fair to say that at lunchtime they were struggling - understaffed ahead of a well-attended football match at Cambridge United.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - New Old London4.80ExcellentA great find here in cask.
XT Brewing - Animal Brewing Blue Dragon4.60ExcellentA full-bodied, hoppy Pale Ale.
Three Castles - White Knight4.10AcceptableA very soft Blonde, verging on bland.
Keppels - Tipsy Crow5.00PoorSomething wrong with this. Very fruity when all descriptions say it is dry and roasty. I failed to finish my pint.

Pleasant lunchtime drink with an increasingly large group of friends and acquaintances in the back garden, ahead of football at Abbey Stadium. I did not note the wide range of beers available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Three Blind Mice - Sinister Finger7.20ExcellentA powerful Black IPA.
Nene Valley - Starless Stout4.10GoodSmooth Oatmeal Stout.
Nene Valley - 4th Dimension4.20GoodAuthentic-tasting, cloudy, German-style Wheatbeer. Oranges.

19:00 A change of management. Jethro has taken a back seat and the young couple from the Norwich White Lion are now running it. Much improved choice of beer. Over the years this place has gone from being a traditional pub to having the feel of a cafe bar. Shame.

Evening. Many pumpclips turned round so limited choice.

Gwydir Street is in party mood and the Blue is at the epicentre of the street festival. A large marquee at the back has a very long line of festival barrels and there is an additional bar out on the street at the front. Very busy. I list just the three beers I drank.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopstar - Dizzy Danny Ale3.80GoodPale and quite hoppy.
Captain Tuttle - Grog3.80GoodFrom the elusive, and quite possibly imaginary, Captain Tuttle’s Brewery. Amber-coloured and malty, with some nice hops too.
Garage - Plympton’s Ruin4.40AcceptableIn rather flat condition from the cellar. Pale in colour.
