Now in a group of six, we were for a while outnumbered by cats in this eccentric little pub, the resident pair having produced five kittens. It really is a crackers place, and all the more endearing for it. We played ‘Nail the Pirate’ for a while, until it emerged that Woody was cheating.

Ah the Bag-o! Stood at the bar googling bus times with Tony for how to get to Nailsea.

I was very pleased to hear that this pub had re-opened; it is my longstanding Bristol favourite. It has so many likeable quirks: The landlord’s ‘rules’, chalked on to the wall and almost all of which I agree with, the pork pie menu in Russian, the eclectic, vinyl music selection, the ‘No Stupid Pub Crawls’ sign on the door, the slightly bonkers barmaid, the pickled eggs sold as ‘wrong ‘uns’, the fact that it is not troubled by keg fonts or much in the way of refrigeration. And of course the excellent beer.

Welcome return to trading for this small pub. Very brief appearance of the pub kitten during my visit.

It was getting late (for us anyway, we'd being going since 1pm). We got a seat and listened to the locals having a chat about tea bags and the like - like you do.
